Overview
The Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology Grant Program application process will reopen in April 2024 through May 2024.
Updates will be posted to this website as information becomes available.
The Clean Fleet Enterprise’s (CFE) Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology Grant Program is a statewide competitive application process for eligible light-, medium- and heavy-duty fleet vehicles. Fleets will provide background information on their current fleet make-up, indicate the level of planning that has occurred for fleet transition, and provide financial information on vehicles and/or technology the fleet plans to acquire. In general, a successful applicant will convey an understanding of the grant program criteria, their preparedness to manage a complex and long-term fleet transition project, and their commitment to maintaining battery and fuel cell electric or recovered methane vehicles in everyday fleet operations.

Current Incentives
Maximum funding incentives offered through the Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology program are by fuel type and vehicle weight class. These incentives will be periodically revisited and revised over time.
New Fleet Vehicles Incentives as flat rate or percentage of new vehicle cost:
Fuel Type | Light Duty-Class 2B | Class 3 | Class 4 | Class 5 | Class 6 | Class 7+ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Electric and Fuel Cell Electric | $8,000 | 40% | 40% | 50% | 55% | 60% |
Recovered Methane | N/A | N/A | 40% | 50% | 55% | 60% |
Vehicle Scrappage
Vehicle scrappage is not required in order to qualify for this funding cycle. However, the Clean Fleet Enterprise strongly encourages applicants to scrap pre-2010 fleet vehicles where possible. Pre-2010 vehicles are typically associated with higher contributions to poor air quality.
Fleets that choose to scrap any vehicles will be eligible to receive an additional funding incentive up to the amounts outlined below.
Vehicle Incentives by Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR):
Light Duty - Class 2B | Class 3-4 | Class 5 | Class 6 | Class 7+ |
---|---|---|---|---|
Up to 10,000 lbs. | 10,001 - 16,000 lbs. | 16,001 - 19,500 lbs. | 19,501 - 26,000 lbs. | 26,000+ lbs. |
$4,000 | $10,000 | $20,000 | $25,000 | $30,000 |
Vehicle Conversions
Conversions of existing fossil-fueled powered vehicles into battery or fuel-cell electric powered vehicles will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Fleets interested in a full conversion, and/or the installation of clean fleet technology (e.g. electric transportation refrigeration unit (eTRU)) will have the opportunity to provide additional information on their intent as part of the application process.
